Recent Update 9/16/02

Hey Dawn, A pretty good weekend. I got the front end done. New shocks, new brakes pads, and checked the bearings. I also put on the tires and wheels that I got for free. It does'nt look too bad the way it is now. I am still going to put CRAGAR SS on it. I like the look of chrome and white letter tires. I think it sits about right. Alittle higher in the back. Today I got all the lights working. Brake, tail, signal and even back-up lights. I drove
it to my cousins house tonight about 3 miles away. It was a blast. I took it to the car wash and vacumed all the sand out. I'm getting ready to do the inside. I have a order ready to go off. Thats all new dash items. Pictures were taken today. I will send them in the morning. I sent pictures of the peddals to show the difference. People sure look when I drive by. It's so fun. I have a friend that just got back from college auto-body. He wants to put ghost flames on for me. I think so. Talk to ya later, Bob

Udate 10/23/02

Hi Dawn, Just a little note to get you up to date. Friday I changed the heater core. I think they took a heater core, sat it on the assembly line, and then built the whole car around it. What a job. It took most of the day to do. I put new heater hoses on while I was at it. I got a package monday with all the weather strip in it. I started getting it all on. I just ordered new carpet, and things for the door panels. After i get the carpet in, then i'm going to start on the dash. I have the stero and speakers. They arn't in yet, but soon. We have set the painting date to be around the middle of march, or when the weather starts to warm up.
Talk to ya later,,, Bob ;)

Update 10-8-03

Well here is all the latest on the progress of the car. All the potatoes are in now, and i have about to work with for now. I got the cowl induction hood on, and primed. I painted the under side yellow, and put on a chrome safty latch. I put the insulation pad on the bottom also. I got a new chevy emblem, like the one on the back, and sent it off to a company that is going to make a L.E.D. light for the middle of it . I'm going to in-lay it into the rear spoiler for a third brake ligth. I have a friend that is really good with fiberglass, and he is doing it for me. Starting friday morning , we are statring on the rear, and working foreward with body work and primer. There are a couple of places on the rear where the body filler is cracked. We are going to grind all that out, and replace it. With the weather premiting, we should have it totally in primer by Sat night. Of course I will take lots of pictures. THEN,,,,, in about 2 weeks, we are going to turn my garage into a paint booth, and " PUT ON THE YELLOW". I have to put up plastic all around, and get some extra lights so we can do a good job. I'ts really coming together nice. I'll let you know about all the progress as i go.

Updated 10/30/03

Hi Dawn,, The weather has turned off extremly cold. The temp.right now is 33, with 30 mph winds. That makes the windchill 13 Deg.I'm going to have to get my propane heater out and, fired up. Friday and Saturday I'm going over the entire car with a fine tooth comb, and find anything that needs sanded, or fixed. Then next Thursday night, I'm going to put it in the paint booth overnihgt so it can be warm to work on over the weekend.. I'm sure getting excited about it. The guy called me yesterday, and told me that the brake light is done, and it will be here tomorrow. I'll finish up that also. I'll take pictures,,,, Talk to ya later.   Bob

Update 11-2-03
Hi Dawn,, Hey, i found something interesting on the car. There are batery tie downs in the trunk. That tells me that it could have been a race car at one time. If you know anything about it, let know. I'm interested to know.  My brake light is here and ready to go in. I'm going to finish all of the body work tomorrow. Later,, Bob

Update 11-4-03
Howdy Dawn,,,  Well the paint booth fell through,so it's back to plan B. Lots of plastic hanging in the garage. I think that it will be fine. I'll just make my own. They sold the paint booth, and the new people are taking over friday. They said if i could have it done by friday, i could use it. There is no way that everyone can take time off work, just to help me. I've painted in the garage before. I think that it will be ok, if i can just keep it warm enough. I've got lots of lights and fans.  I'll keep you informed,,,  Bob

Updated 11-9-03
Well, It's completed. We put the clear on today at 10:00am. I am very pleased with the way it all turned out. We stayed up till 4:00 this morning getting ready for my sons friend to come to put on the clear. I just came back from un-taping it. We made a paint booth in my cousins garage with plastic. We took two fans and two heaters in it. We kept it around 75 deg.We put some gold pearl in the black for the stripes. We put 3 coats of black on. It really looks cool. Then we laid out the stripes. It took 2 hours on the hood alone. Then we laid down 4 coats of datona yellow. We let it
dry over-night. Then we started at 9:00 this morning laying down the ghost flames. That took about 3 hours.  We then laid down 3 good coats of clear. We had a few flys comit suiside in the clear. (Damn Things)
I'm going over at 10:00 tomorrow and bring it home. I think I'll let it sit for about a week before i put the lights and emblems on. I took lots of pictures. I'll get them developed tomorrow, and send them monday. I think that you will be as pleased as i am. Thats it for now. Talk to ya later. Bob
